Roma and Armenian national team’s midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was injured in the 1/8 final match of the Europa League against FC Shakhtyor (3-0) and was replaced at the end of the first half, armsport writes. Mkhitaryan had a calf muscle injury, but it can be more serious than expected. Corriere dello Sport writes that last night Mkhitaryan moved to the Roma sports base with the help of crutches.
Today and tomorrow the Armenian midfielder will undergo a thorough medical examination to understand the severity of the injury. However, the first impression is not positive. According to the source, Mkhitaryan can return to the field only at the beginning of April, after the international break. This means that he can miss the upcoming games of the Armenian national team in the qualifying round of the World Cup against Iceland and Romania, which will take place at the end of March. This is not Mkhitaryan’s first injury in the current season.
