Rio Olympics silver medalist, two-time world and European champion weightlifter Simon Martirosyan won a silver medal at the 32nd Summer Olympics.
In the 109 kg weight category, Martirosyan took the second place with the result of 423 kg (195 kg + 228 kg). In the snatch exercise, the Armenian weightlifter successfully performed 2 approaches, lifting 190 kg and 195 kg. The latest figure for this exercise is the Olympic record. In the pushing exercise, Martirosyan succeeded only in the first approach, pushing the barbell weighing 228 kg.
