25.11.2021 | 17:55International transportation via unblocked routes must be carried out in accordance with the national legislation of each of the countries, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said today at a weekly briefing, noting that Russia sees good prospects for unblocking routes in the South Caucasus.
Zakharova noted that Moscow is in favor of the implementation of the November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021 agreements. These include, among others, the unblocking of economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus. A trilateral working group headed by deputy prime ministers of the three countries is dealing with this issue, she said.
Zakharova also confirmed that Yerevan had asked Moscow to mediate in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, adding that Russia is ready to contribute.
“Yes, I can confirm that Armenia has asked to mediate in normalizing relations between Yerevan and Ankara. Russia is interested in making efforts in this process. Our country is ready to continue supporting in every way. We believe that the start of this process will contribute to the improvement of the general situation in the region,” she said.
