In recent days, Azerbaijan has been actively discussing the initiative to organize tours to the occupied territories of Artsakh for refugees for money. In particular, the chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan Fouad Nagiyev said that they were going to organize tourist trips to Nagorno Karabakh, first of all for the refugees who once lived there. He said the first such trip to Akna (Aghdam) will take place at the end of this month.

“The tour called ‘Our Way Takes Us to Aghdam’ will be organized for residents who were born in Aghdam and have not been able to get there for almost 30 years,” Nagiyev said, noting that the tour will take 3 hours and 15 minutes and will be one-day. It is planned to organize trips to other cities and regions in the future. Elgun Javadov, head of the regional development department of the Azerbaijani Tourism Agency, said that this year the concept of tourist routes in the occupied territories of Artsakh has been developed. Ticket purchase options are being discussed.

For decades, the Azerbaijani leadership has been shouting from various international platforms about the alleged 1 million Azerbaijani refugees and accusing Armenia. Even after the war, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s promise of a “great return” of refugees to the occupied territories of Artsakh seems to be postponed indefinitely. Apparently, Aliyev is ready to show Artsakh to “ordinary Azeris” only for money.
