Acting Armenian foreign minister briefs CSTO secretary general on Azeri-Turkish aggression consenquences

09.08.2021 | 13:55Acting Armenian Foreign Minister Armen Grigoryan on Monday received Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas.
Grigoryan briefed Zas on the situation created as a result of the penetration of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into Syunik and Gegharkunik regions, as well as the regular provocations of Azerbaijan, including from the territory of Nakhichevan. He drew attention to the consequences of the Azeri-Turkish aggression against Artsakh and the threats arising from them. Both sides stressed the need to de-escalate the situation. They discussed the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, stressed the need for a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing. The parties also referred to Armenia’s upcoming presidency in the CSTO. Grigoryan informed about the conceptual approaches of the Armenian presidency, emphasizing that one of the priorities will be to increase the efficiency of the organization, to strengthen the mechanisms of responding to the needs of the member states in time.
Zas, from his part, stressed the importance of improving the CSTO, assured that the CSTO working bodies will make every effort to implement the priorities to be announced by Armenia.
