Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation today. According to Azerbaijani media, Aliyev called Erdogan and expressed his condolences to the victims of the forest fires in Turkey, noting that they will continue to provide assistance in the fight against fires. Besides, the leaders of the two countries also discussed the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to local media, Aliyev also informed Erdogan about the “provocations carried out by Armenia” on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“The leaders exchanged views on regional processes in the post-conflict phase,” the statement said.

Since May 12, the Azerbaijani armed forces have invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in Gegharkunik and Syunik regions and refuse to leave. Azerbaijan regularly carries out provocations both in the Nakhichevan and Gegharkunik sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
