29.07.2021 | 16:55The Kremlin is hopeful that the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey will not be detrimental to regional stability, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president, was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Sentop had said Turkey and Azerbaijan were negotiating establishment of a joint Turkic army. This report, however, was later refuted by Turkey on the grounds that Sentop’s words were mistranslated.
“Of course, Azerbaijan and Turkey are developing bilateral ties. This is their sovereign right as long as they not harm stability and predictability in the region. In this regard, we are in constant contact with both Turkish and Azerbaijani partners,” Peskov said.
He added that the Kremlin is not aware of any statement by the presidents of Turkey or Azerbaijan.
