International genocide research institute to be established in Turkey by Erdogan’s decree

15.07.2021 | 17:18Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a decree establishing an International Institute for the Study of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity, according to the website of the official newspaper of the Turkish government. The decree states that the international institute will operate under the auspices of Istanbul University.
It is obvious that this newly created institution will become one of the active tools of the Armenian Genocide denial. Last June, at the meeting of the Supreme Advisory Committee chaired by the President of Turkey, a decision was made to create a new “autonomous and civil” structure, which will work out a special strategy to respond to the allegations of the Armenian Genocide. Earlier, the Turkish Presidential Administration’s public relations department launched a website on genocides. In addition, an international conference denying the Armenian Genocide was held in April this year under the auspices of the Turkish President’s Office.
