Artsakh ombudsman reveals numbers of those killed, missing and captured during war

07.07.2021 | 16:21Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Taking into account the inquiries addressed to me, I am providing information about Artsakh citizens killed, missing, captured or returned from captivity during and as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression.”
Accordingly, 750 citizens of the Artsakh Republic were killed; 81 of them are civilians, 42 who were killed in long-range strikes, 39 were captured by Azeris and then tortured, stabbed, beheaded, shot; 163 civilians were wounded; the number of wounded servicemen is not available at the moment. According to verified information, 83 people from the Artsakh Republic are considered missing, 23 of whom are civilians.
Twenty-three of the 103 people returned from captivity are citizens of the Artsakh Republic.
