A court in Goris denied today a motion by Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan’s defense team to release him on a 30-million dram (about US $62,000) bail.

The motion was based on the fact that after Lusine Avetyan’s testimony, the risk of obstructing the investigation was significantly reduced, therefore, his Arushanyan can be released from detention.

Arushanyan, the number 32 on the Armenia bloc’s electoral list, is accused of conspiracy to buy votes for his bloc during the snap parliamentary election held in May 2021.
