Armenian parliament speaker hosts Iranian parliamentary delegation

On December 20, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by Seyed Mehdi Farshadan, Head of the Iran-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Iran’s Majlis.
Simonyan expressed confidence that the visit of the Friendship Group would have an active significance for the close Armenian-Iranian relations, in favor of the further strengthening of the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The parties noted the active political dialogue between the two countries, which is a solid basis and guarantee for the development of interstate relations in many areas. The development of inter-parliamentary cooperation was highlighted, considering it as a key platform for expanding the scope of common views of friendly countries.
The meeting focused on the need for lasting peace and stability in the region. Simonyan pointed to the destructive behavior of the Azerbaijani side, noting that it has a negative impact not only on Armenia but also on other countries in the region.
