Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a private talk with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi. The parties discussed details of the regular meeting of the Armenia-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which is aimed at further development and strengthening of bilateral trade and economic relations, the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office informed.

Pashinyan and Gharibashvili expressed confidence that there is a great potential for the expansion of economic ties between the two countries and efforts should be made to implement it in the best possible way. The two leaders exchanged views on the developments in the South Caucasus, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

“Georgia is always ready to play an important role in achieving peace and stability in the region,” Garibashvili said at the opening of a meeting of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission with the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The meeting was supposed to take place in 2020, but it failed due to the coronavirus epidemic, Sputnik’s Georgian service said.

“Georgia is always motivated to play one of the important roles in this process (achieving peace and stability). That is why I have launched the Peace Resistance Initiative. I want to confirm, Mr. Prime Minister, that we are always ready to participate in promoting peace in the region, development of stability,” Garibashvili said.

Georgia refused to take part in the “3 + 3” platform meeting held in Moscow at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia and Turkey. The platform was established on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
