Court fules to realease opposition MP from detention

10.12.2021 | 19:21MP Armen Charchyan of the National Assembly’s Armenia faction has been released by a decision of a Yerevan court.
Yesterday, the Constitutional Court announced the decision on parliamentary immunity, according to which, any detained person who becomes a member of parliament, should be released from prison, except for the cases provided for in Part 2 of Article 96 of the Constitution.
Charchyan, who is the executive director of the Izmirlian Medical Center, is accused of instructing his subordinates to vote for the Armenia bloc and not vote for the Civil Contract party in the 2021 parliamentary election.
Charchyan was released in the courtroom.
