Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili was able to cross the state border with the help of a former high-ranking official living in Ukraine, Prosecutor Levan Vepkhvadze told journalists on Thursday, TASS reported.

He said the investigative body found out in detail who helped [Saakashvili] in Ukraine: a former high-ranking official of the security department> Vepkhadze, however, stopped short of giving the name of the official. The prosecutor called on Saakashvili’s lawyers to recognize all the evidence in the case as undeniable and to agree with the investigation, as the fact of illegal border crossing is obvious.

he former president’s lawyer Giorgi Gelkhauri said from his part that Saakashvili’s arrival is a political act.
