06.12.2021 | 18:32Several European Union and NATO nations have expressed interest Turkish drones, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Saturday, stopping short of listing any countries.
Çavuşoğlu made the remarks during a speech he delivered at a defence industry conference southern Antalya province, Airport Haber news site reported.
The Turkish foreign minister said Ankara was in contacts with many countries regarding Turkish-made drones while noting the importance of Poland, as the first NATO and EU member country to add Turkish UAVs to its inventory.
“At this time, many EU and NATO member countries are interested in our products,” he said. “I don’t wish to disclose of their names.’’
Poland is the first member of NATO to order Turkish-built Bayraktar TB2 drones. In May, Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak announced that Warsaw is purchasing 24 Bayraktar drones from Turkey armed with anti-tank missiles.
