The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) may impose interim measures on Azerbaijan on the complaint filed by Armenia seeking protection of the rights of Armenian servicemen captured on November 16, TASS reported.

The Republic of Armenia applied to the European Court of Human Rights in connection with the November 16, 2021 offensive against the Armenian sovereign territory.

“The court received an application to apply Rule 39 rule in the cases of 33 alleged Armenian prisoners; 28 are included in the application by the Armenian government, five are in individual complaints sent by the relatives of the alleged captives,” the court’s response to TASS reads.

It also says that the Court has applied the provisions of Rule 39 for the five individual complaints.

“The court adjourned the hearing on the remaining 28 alleged captives represented by the Armenian government and requested information from the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia,” it said in addition.

According to Rule 39 of the Court, may apply interim measures to any State party to the European Convention on Human Rights.
