In his speech at the enlarged meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) in Yerevan, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin did not mention the challenges threatening Armenia. His speech was entirely about the problems faced by the EEU, the ways to solve them, the achievements.

It is worth reminding that at the EIC’s regular session, held on October 8-9 last year, the Russian prime minister in his speech referred to the war in Nagorno Karabakh. His statement was neutral, unaddressed. Mishustin, in particular, expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, noted that the hostilities should be stopped immediately, and the issue should be settled through diplomacy.

“Russia is ready to support the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries,” he said. There was no mention of the threats Armenia is facing in the speeches of our other EEU partners, who are fellow CSTO members. Although the topic and occasion of the meeting were different, nevertheless, the countries cooperating with us in the field of security and defense were supposed to respond to the threats to the territorial integrity of Armenia. In this context, it should be noted that our partners in the EEU and CSTO have never hidden their sympathy for Azerbaijan, while never showing solidarity with their partner Armenia. One of its latest highlights was the congratulations of the members of these bodies on the Victory Day on November 8, declared by Aliyev after the 44-day Artsakh war. Kazakh President Kasim-Jokart Tokayev and Belarus President Lukashenko hurried to congratulate the president of Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry sent a congratulatory message.
