Opposition boycotts National Assembly session

16.11.2021 | 13:39The Armenian National Assembly convened for its next regular session today.
The leader of the opposition Armenia faction Seyran Ohanyan said that after the border tension the opposition continued to try, using its constitutional rights, to bring the facts of violation of the Armenian people’s vital rights to the agenda of the National Assembly and to make a special discussion.
“We demanded that the government provide full information to the public, because all this is due to the government’s shortcomings and the lack of proper control of the legislature, but the political majority, abusing its powers, illegally obstructed this initiative. Moreover, Syunik MP Artur Sargsyan, who had joined the initiative, was arrested again,” Seyran Ohanyan said. He said that in condemning this illegal acts and as a sign of protest, the Armenia faction will not participate in the sittings.
Hayk Mamijanyan, Secretary of the I Have Honor faction, added that the draft Law on Mercury is the most important item on the NA agenda today.
“The I Have Honor faction will return to the session hall when the issues facing our country will be discussed as priority and; we do not want to participate in your mercury parties,” Mamijanyan said.
