Republic party leader: It is only a matter of time to do the same in Lachin

In a Facebook post, the leader of the Republic party, Aram Sargsyan, speaks about the installation of customs checkpoints by Azerbaijan on the Goris-Kapan road

“When our government insisted that there would be no corridor, only a road through the Armenian customs checkpoints, it was predictable that Azerbaijan would try to apply the same to the Lachin corridor. But since it will be more difficult in the case of Lachin, due to the November 9 document and in the international arena it will seriously discredit Russia that signed the document, they had to test the process in the Goris-Kapan section. I am convinced that repeating the same thing in Lachin is only a matter of time, from which we have only two ways to avoid.

First, to address the issue of security of the Armenians of Artsakh to the co-chairs of the UN Security Council and Minsk Group, demanding the resumption of negotiations as soon as possible in order to prevent a new war. I am convinced that the first step of the Minsk Troika will be the provision of pre-arranged international peacekeepers, in which, given this situation, the predominant participation of Russian peacekeepers and the signing of a new, long-term peace agreement.

Second, to prepare for a large-scale war with the direct participation of Armenia, using all weapons that can curb Azerbaijan’s aggression, to create a dignified peace, but for that we need to revive our economy, buy advanced weapons from advanced technological countries. Except a dagger, the Russians did not give us any other weapon, they do not have it to give.

P.S. In order to get one step closer to the first option, it is necessary that the prime minister attend democracy conference in the US, no matter how much pressure there is from Moscow. In this situation, it is not only a participation in a conference, but also an application to strengthen Armenia’s sovereignty.”
