04.11.2021 | 20:02At the meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome, US President Joe Biden made clear Washington’s concern over Ankara’s acquisition of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said at a briefing, TASS reported.
He was asked to comment on media reports that Turkey had moved S-400 systems to Incirlik air base, where NATO and US forces are stationed. “We have quite clearly outlined our position on the S-400s and Turkey. In Rome, President Biden reaffirmed our defense partnership and Turkey’s role as a NATO partner. However, at the meeting, the President also noted the concern over the presence of Russian S-400s in Turkey. We have very clearly expressed our concern about these systems, we have clearly stated the consequences, including in the context of F-35 fighter jets,” he said.
