Ombudsman raises servicemen’s issues at National Assembly

03.11.2021 | 21:40Speaking at the joint meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committees on Human Rights Protection, Public Affairs and Financial and Budgetary Affair, Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan said his office has submitted proposals on the protection of human rights in the Armed Forces to the NA committees.
He said issue of free medical care for servicemen is one of the main spheres.
Meanwhile, Tatoyan noted that in recent years, issues related to the organization of conscription have significantly improved.
He added that housing issue of the servicemen remain priority.
“It turns out that an officer with 20 or more years of military service not only does not have his own apartment, but also lives on rent and as a result of disproportionate compensation, he even has to pay his own money,” he concluded.
