There are discussions about the Pashinyan-Aliyev-Putin meeting, but I think there is no document so far, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan told reporters today in the National Assembly.

“I don’t know more, the colleagues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may say,” he said. Referring to the observation that Putin announced painful compromises, Sanosyan said: “Yes, our condition is painful, but this is our reality. We have found ourselves in this reality. And to live peacefully, to develop, to stand up has a significant share in this reality. And the clarification of our borders plays a role in that, so that we do not have constant border disputes, so that someone does not kick someone’s car. That is why we should not be afraid of that phenomenon, to avoid it. Even if something painful can happen in one or two places, it is better to fix that painful problem, to mean that this is our borders, than to have some incidents every day and deal with them. That is why we need that process in order to clarify our borders, to develop within the borders that we actually have, “Sanosyan said.

To the question which maps will be used for demarcation, Sanosyan answered: “There are different discussions, there are different maps, but which maps will be taken as a basis depends on the legal status of those maps. That is, even if those maps are from the Soviet years, they must be legally clarified and accepted by all.”

Referring to the maps mentioned by Putin, which are kept in the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Sanosyan noted: “There are a lot of changes in the maps of the 20s, one of which is the change in terms of Al Lakes in our favor, because, as far as I know, until the end of the 20s, Al Lakes are marked in all maps as the territory of the Republic of Armenia.”
