Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s lawyer Beka Basilay expects incumbent President Salome Zurabishvili to pardon her client, osnmedia reported.
“As a lawyer, I declare that the most effective way is to make a decision by President Salome Zurabishvili. Unfortunately, she got ahead of the events and initially accepted the strategy that she will not apologize, but in reality it was a statement made during the elections to mobilize the supporters of the “Georgian Dream”. We had precedents when, despite her statements, she decided to release the prisoners,” Basilai told reporters.
At the same time, the lawyer added that the defense will also look for other legal ways to release Saakashvili.
