Iranian Azeri activists sentenced to prison terms for supporting Azeris during Artsakh war of 2020

12.10.2021 | 19:0512 Azeri activists who participated in a rally in support of the Artsakh war in 2020 were arrested in the Iranian city of Ardabil which has a significant Azeri population, according to an Iranian media report.
The report says that on October 9, a local court sentenced each of them to 14 years and 32 days in prison and 74 lashes. They were charged with “actions against the police” and “organizing riots.”
On September 29, 2020, two days after the start of the Second Artsakh War, local Azeris organized a rally in support of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the city park of Ardabil. Dozens of people were arrested during and after the rally.
