Opposition to challenge legislative package on community enlargement

08.10.2021 | 12:31The Armenia faction will challenge the legislative package on community enlargement in the Constitutional Court, the secretary of the faction, Artsvik Minasyan, said at briefings in the National Assembly.
In addition, the faction submitted a motion to the Constitutional Court, demanding the immediate suspension of the legislative package. The spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Eva Tovmasyan, confirmed to Factor.am, that an application had been received. She said, the Constitutional Court is currently studying its content.
On September 24, the National Assembly in the second reading and in full adopted a legislative package on making amendments to the Law on Administrative Territorial Division of the Republic of Armenia on making amendments to the Law on Local Self-Government. According to it, Armenia will have 78 communities, 71 of which would be united.
The NA opposition factions did not take part in the voting.
