Armenian Ambassador to the United States Lilit Makunts on September 29 had an online meeting with Congressman Adam Schiff, the Armenian Embassy in the United States said.
Ambassador Makunts conveyed her gratitude to Congressman Schiff for his continued support and assistance to Armenia and the Armenian people. She also thanked Congressman Schiff for the latest legislative amendment sponsored by other partners, which should be included in the 2022 National Defense Permit Act. Ambassador Makunts presented the security issues raised after the 44-day war, in this context emphasizing the establishment of lasting peace in the region through a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. In this regard, Congressman Schiff expressed his determination to continue efforts to overcome the security and humanitarian challenges Armenian is facing. The parties stressed the unconditional repatriation of the Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan.
