The US House of Representatives to demand the release of Armenian POWs

23.09.2021 | 16:04The U.S. House passed the Cardenas-Schiff-Sherman Amendment, demanding Azerbaijan’s immediate release of Armenian POWs, and calling for a report on Azerbaijani war crimes, including the use of illegal munitions and white phosphorus against Armenian civilians, ANCA reports. The amendment also demands to investigate the use of U.S. technology in Turkish drones. It is mentioned that during the 2020 Artsakh war these drones used to target Armenian civilians. The amendment was supported by Jackie Speier, Andy Levin, Gus Bilirakis, Zoe Lofgren, Frank Pallone, Jan Schakowsky, David Valadao, Judy Chu, Anna Eshoo, Katie Porter, Young Kim, Raja Krishnamoorthi and Dina Titus.
Several members of the Armenian Committee of the US Congress have recently initiated several pro-Armenian amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act for 2022 fiscal year. The latter is approved annually and refers to the expenses and allocations of military and defense sectors.
