The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has issued a statement confirming that soldier Jabil Babayev has crossed the border into Artsakh and is on the Armenian side.

The statement said Babayev has voluntarily left the psychiatric ward of Gandzak (Ganja) hospital and that a criminal case has been filed against him.

The statement, however, stops short explaining how a person with mental problems has been drafted to military service. It is not reported how he got to Martakert from Gandzak hospital.

Earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Artsakh had issued a statement that Azeri serviceman Jamil Babayev was found in an apartment on Teryan Street in Martakert.
