In an interview with the Azerbaijani Report news agency, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has blamed Armenia for the border tension.

“We are monitoring the incidents and the regular shelling incidents by the units of the Armenian Armed Forces. We are following all the events,” Akar said. He noted that intensive discussions are being held at the level of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as the level of defense ministers. “The leaders of the countries Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev, like me and my colleague Zakir Hasanov, continue to communicate on a daily basis. We are closely following the incidents. Our demand is that the military-political leadership of Armenia stop the provocations and bring peace to the region,” he said, adding that Azerbaijan and Turkey are making every effort to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.

“Violation of the ceasefire regime does not benefit anyone. Turkey is always on the side of Azerbaijan and supports the brotherly country in its true cause. Let no one doubt that we will continue to support that, no matter what,” he said.
