Russian, Azeri foreign ministers discuss further cooperation

09.08.2021 | 14:47A telephone conversation took place today between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed issues related to bilateral relations, regional and international agenda.
“The ministers noted with satisfaction the gradual development of diverse Russian-Azerbaijani relations, the steady growth of trade and economic ties. The agreements reached during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Russia on July 20 have been reaffirmed,” the statement said.
An exchange of views on various aspects of the implementation of the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021, as well as ways to resolve the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The need for a speedy resumption of the working group chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia to unblock economic and transport ties in the region was stressed. The issues of further deepening of cooperation on international platforms, including the UN, the OSCE and the Caspian Five, were also considered, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
