Iranian ambassador: Ensuring long-lasting peace in South Caucasus is in interests of region’s peoples

03.08.2021 | 18:17On August 3, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, Military Attaché of the Embassy, Col. Bahman Sadeghin, accompanied by representatives of the Armenian Ministry of Defense visited Gegharkunik province, A Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Maj. Gen. Arayik Harutyunyan briefed the ambassador on the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, after which a visit was organized to Verin Shorzha border. The ambassador, expressing concern over the continuation of border clashes between the two countries, stressed the need for restraint on both sides and the need for a peaceful settlement of conflicts between the two countries. He expressed his condolences to the families of the servicemen killed during the recent clashes. He said that all parties need to respect internationally recognized borders to ensure long-lasting peace in the South Caucasus, which is in the interests of the peoples of the region and conveyed Iran’s readiness to assist in establishing peace.
