The EU calls on sides of the confrontation in Armenia to resolve their differences peacefully

The European Union is closely monitoring the situation in Armenia, urging “all players” to refrain from rhetoric or escalating actions and to resolve all political disputes peacefully. This is mentioned in the statement of the official representative of the EU Foreign Policy Service Peter Stano, TASS reports.
“The European Union is paying close attention to the situation in Armenia. We call on all sides to calm down. It is necessary to refrain from rhetoric and escalating actions. Political differences must be settled peacefully in accordance with the principles of parliamentary democracy. According to the Armenian constitution, the armed forces must remain neutral in political matters and must remain under the control of the civilian authorities,” the statement says.
The EU expressed confidence that “maintaining a democratic constitutional order is the only way for Armenia to overcome the challenges it has faced.”
