06.07.2021 | 19:31The Constitutional Court examined the motions on the self-withdrawal of judges at the working session.
“At the moment, I can clearly say that there have been more than one motion, all of which have been rejected,” Yeva Tovmasyan, spokeswoman for the Constitutional Court, told Factor TV. To the question, to which judges was the motion for self-recusal submitted, she said, “The working session has lasted for a long time, I have not seen the minutes of the session yet. I had an opportunity to ask that question to Vahe Grigoryan personally ․ He replied that there were several motions, all of which were rejected, including the motion related to him.
The issue of self-withdrawal of Judge Vahe Grigoryan of the Constitutional Court was included in the application submitted to the Constitutional Court by the Armenia bloc led by former president Robert Kocharyan. However, according to the law, the issue of self-withdrawal can be examined in the Constitutional Court only if one of the judges raises that issue. It turns out that one of the judges made that motion. It should be noted that six out of nine judges had to vote in favor of the motion to withdraw.
The applications on disputing the results of the early elections to the National Assembly held on June 20 will be examined by the High Court on July 9. Four forces have applied to the Constitutional Court: the Armenia and I Have Honor blocs, and the Zartonk and Hayots Hayrenik parties.
