The state debt of Armenia has exceeded $8 billion

08.03.2021 | 18:02As of the end of January 2021, the state debt of Armenia exceeded the threshold of 8 billion AMD, making it $8 billion 24.9 million. The data was provided by the RA Ministry of Finance. Of this figure, $7 billion 522.5 million is owed to the Government and $499.7 million to the Central Bank. Of the government’s debt, $5 billion 568.7 million is foreign debt and $1 billion 956.5 million is the domestic debt.
The debt of the Central Bank is $499.7 million. Compared to December 2020, in January 2021 the state debt of Armenia increased by $56.4 million, and in January 2020 amounted to 7 billion 340.5 million AMD. Thus, during one year, the state debt of Armenia increased by $674.4 million. It should be reminded that the Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan had announced that the absolute debt of the government is supposed to approach $8.5 billion, and the state debt – approximately $8.9 billion.
