Renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg is participating in a conference in Yerevan, Armenia, titled “The Impact of Azerbaijan’s Aggression on Human Rights and Environmental Protection.”
Organized independently as a side event to COP29, the conference addresses mounting concerns over Azerbaijan’s recent actions in Nagorno-Karabakh and their broader impact on both human rights and the environment.
Thunberg’s involvement signals international support for Armenia’s position on Azerbaijan’s environmental and humanitarian record, amid criticism of the decision to designate Azerbaijan as the host nation for COP29. Thunberg, who has chosen to boycott COP29 in Baku, arrived in Armenia following recent protests outside Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia.
