All the Azerbaijani servicemen who were taken prisoner in Nagorno Karabakh were returned with the support of Russian peacekeepers; the work on the return of the captured Armenian soldiers continues, Deputy Commander of Russia’s Southern Military District Rustam Muradov has told TASS.

“As of today, all the servicemen of the Azerbaijani side have been returned, and the work related to the return of the Armenian prisoners of war continues. There is positive progress, there is understanding. I think this issue should be completely closed. Russian peacekeepers will complete this work,” Muradov said.

He noted that he considers the work related to the return of the captives to be the peacekeeper’s civil duty.

“As a military man, I understand who the prisoners of war are, what feelings they experienced in captivity. I remember the first flight when we left for Baku. As soon as we returned, I saw the faces of those soldiers, when they were already in Yerevan, at Erebuni Airport․ They did not believe that they had returned home,” he said.
