Former prosecutor general’s detention extended for 2 more months

30.11.2021 | 20:44Former Armenia Prosecutor General and former Chairman of the Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan will stay in detention for two more months, his attorney, Erik Aleksanyan, told Factor.am. The Criminal Court of Appeal ruled today to reject Hovsepyan’s appeal.
Hovsepyan was detained on November 2. He is accused of a number of wrongdoings when serving as Prosecutor General between 2004 and 20013, and chairman of the Investigative Committee between 2014 and 2018, including receiving a bribe in the amount of AMD 190 mil. (about US $400,000) and embezzling AMD 800 mil. (about US $167,000). In addition, he is accused of laundering AMD 1.3 billion (about US $ 2.7 mil.).
