Ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili intends to continue the hunger strike until he and his allies are released from prison, Gruzia online reported citing Saakashvili’s lawyer Nika Gvaramia.

“As you probably know, I have announced a hunger strike. I would like you to know – I will not stop it in any case until I and people detained because of me are released. I love life very much but a hunger strike, in any case, will continue until the end of my life. I will not help my people with my existence anymore. I am ready to confirm with my solitariness that Georgia is worthy to live and die for it,” Saakashvili underlined.

He has also warned that he refused from the help of medics or any form of medical interference, even if he stays unconscious. The politician has urged his supporters to more active actions.

On October 1, the Georgian ex-president wrote on Facebook that he crossed the border of Georgia. Later that day, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakliy Garibashvili claimed that Saakashvili was detained and taken to the penitentiary facility. The Ukrainian side claimed it was an act of Georgia’s “revenge” against Saakashvili.
