On the eve of the book donation day, a unique QR library was opened in the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics. The aim of the initiative is to connect young people with modern literature and create an environment that will promote reading through the latest technologies.

By the way, the library can be used not only by university students but also by all people interested in economics and related fields, without any restrictions. The creation of the library will to some extent activate the lives of the locals, providing them with enjoyable entertainment and self-education, as the district is suburban and the central and regional libraries are quite far from the city center.

Unlike traditional libraries, there is no need to register or have a passport. All you have to do is enter the hall, select the book and scan the corresponding QR code posted on the wall. There is unrestricted internet access in the hall, tablets, and a comfortable environment for reading is created. According to ASUE Gyumri Branch Acting Director Karen Petrosyan, there are 8 sections in the library, each with about 100 professional books, but it is planned to constantly increase the number and direction of literature, including modern fiction.

“Students have the ability to directly download PDF versions of books directly to their phones or tablets in the library through the “Qrreader” application for smartphones. In addition, the QR library includes such educational materials and manuals, which are often not possible to find in libraries, “said Karen Petrosyan.

ASUE rector Diana Galoyan expressed hope that the students will start reading more, and the knowledge acquired will be directed to the development of the economy of the region and the republic. The students, in their turn, mentioned with great enthusiasm that a very good opportunity has been created to get acquainted with the modern professional literature, to educate themselves, and meanwhile have a good time.

The librarian of the university Tatev Ghazaryan told Factor. am that the library is one of the environments where “students, lecturers, representatives of the general public will want to sit, enjoy the environment, take the time to increase their knowledge.

“This is a full achievement for both our university and the city because now we have a library that is very unique. As for how much this will contribute to reading, I can say for sure that it will have a positive impact,” said Tatev Ghazaryan, adding that they have created two environments. one for people who are tired of online formats, the other for those who love innovation.
