No need for show of force for Afghanistan, Russian official says

Russian Foreign Ministry does not see a need to show force at the CSTO level due to the situation in Afghanistan, TASS has quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin as saying.
“The situation in Afghanistan has always been a subject of CSTO discussion, the countries have held consultations, statements are being made,” he said. Pankin also drew attention to the fact that the CSTO task is to protect the southern borders, first of all it is about Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
“If you mean more radical means, we will react as soon as they appear. Demonstration of force is not planned yet,” he added.
