Criminal Court of Appeal rejects appeal filed by Mikael Minasyan’s lawyers

30.07.2021 | 19:10In connection with the multi-episode criminal case being investigated by the State Revenue Committee Investigations Department, the State Revenue Committee states that on September 22, 2020, the Court of First Instance of the city of Yerevan upheld the motion of the preliminary investigation body to detain former Ambassador to the Holy See Mikael Minasyan, who was involved as a defendant during the preliminary investigation under Article 190, Part 3, Clause 1 (two episodes), Article 310, Article 310.1, Part 1 (three episodes) of the RA Criminal Code, 314.3 Article 2, part 2 (five episodes). SRC Information Public Relations Department said in a statement.
The Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan, considered the existence of reasonable grounds for the accusation of accusation against M. Minasyan to be grounded, assessed them as lawful, and made a decision on June 10, 2021 to uphold the motion to choose detention against M. Minasyan as a measure of restraint. The above-mentioned judicial act was again appealed by M. Minasyan’s lawyers to the Criminal Court of Appeal, which, after examining the submitted complaint, the objections of the preliminary investigation body and the prosecutor supervising the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, made a decision on 29.07.2021 to reject the lawyers’ motion and uphold the prior ruling.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
