Syunik, Artsakh residents receive compensation for war damages

Six measures were implemented, Artak Harutyunyan, the head of the Integrated Social Services Department of the Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, told a news conference today.
The first measure concerns the compensation of the damage caused to the real estate of the Armenian citizens as a result of the hostilities in Armenia adding that the first measure started last year, continued this year in March, and is now over. He said applications were received from Syunik region, 120 beneficiaries, according to the amount of damage, received compensation of about 52 million drams.
Harutyunyan said the second measure is the provision of social assistance to the victims, missing persons and persons with disabilities among the civilians. It is partly over, partly ongoing: 5 million drams were allocated to the families of the victims, 3 million drams for the first group of disabled people, 2 million drams for the second group, 1 million drams for the third group, and 1 million drams for the captives. The third measure is over. Servicemen who were slightly injured or had a mental health problem were provided with one-time social assistance in the amount of 500,000 drams per beneficiary. About 7400 beneficiaries were paid 3.7 billion drams. The next three events are related to hospitality compensation, which started in December and will last for two months.
As for Artsakh residents, Sasun Savadyan, Deputy Chief of the Artsakh Operative Headquarters in Armenia, said that about 97% of the displaced people have benefited from assistance programs. He said the issue of residence of the displaced citizens of Artsakh in Armenia has started to be settled.
“Almost all the displaced people have come to the conclusion that they should live in a rented house or in a relative’s house. In connection with employment, the state pays 100,000 drams to each working Artsakh citizen, as a salary, as training with the employer. In other words, if the beneficiary starts mastering that job, it is possible to include him as a permanent employee,” Savadyan said.
