The Central Electoral Commission has set a deadline of July 21 for the submission of applications for self-withdrawal of the candidates included in the lists of the three forces that have passed to the National Assembly. No candidate has submitted such an application so far, CEC Secretary Armen Smbatyan has told Factor TV.

“The CEC will convene a session this week, will register the names of the people who will receive a mandate of NA memeber,” Smbatyan said.

He added that as stipulated for by the Armenian Constitution, the first sitting of the National Assembly will take place on August 2, and not on July 26 as some claim.

Out of 2,592,479 eligible voters 1,260,840 citizens or 48.63% turned out in the June 20 snap elections to the National Assembly. Three political forces passed to the parliament: the Civil Contract party led by Nikol Pashinyan with 687,251 votes (53.92%), the Armenia bloc led by Robert Kocharyan with 268,165 votes (21.04%) and the I have honor bloc led by Artur Vanetsyan with  66,633 by votes (5.23%) ․ These forces will have 71; 29 and 7 seats in parliament, respectively.
