19.07.2021 | 13:33The simultaneous opening of all roads in the South Caucasus is crucial in the post-conflict phase of the settlement, it is underscored in the November 10 statement; there should be no discrimination in this regard, the Interfax news agency quoted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev saying at a joint press conference with European Council President Charles Michel in Baku. He said the simultaneous opening of all roads will allow Armenia to establish railway communication with Russia and Iran, and Azerbaijan will get an additional route to the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.
“Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Turkey support this approach. Armenia’s positive response is needed. After that, the stability and security of the region will become a reality, and that is what we want,” Aliyev said.
Earlier, Council of Europe President Charles Michel told a news conference following talks with Aliyev in Baku that the European Union was ready to play a positive role in achieving peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Aliyev has once again stated that the Karabakh conflict is over. He said it was time to think about peace.
