Islamic State terrorist attacks thwarted in Moscow, Astrakhan and Kabardino-Balkaria; 6 militants killed, 2 arrested
The terrorist attacks recently thwarted in Moscow, Astrakhan and Kabardino-Balkaria were planned by members of the Islamic State terrorist group, Russia’s FSB reported.
In a special operation, six militants were killed, two others were arrested. In Moscow, one of the militants planned to detonate a bomb in a crowded place, and the other planned to “attack civilians with firearms and cold steel.” They were arrested last Tuesday and Thursday.
The second Islamist wanted to carry out attacks with his accomplice in the Astrakhan region. The latter was killed during the arrest, when he opened fire on the special forces.
Another five militants were killed in Kabardino-Balkaria. According to operative data, the militants planned to kill the local Islamic leader. It is reported that there are no casualties among the security forces and civilians.
