05.03.2021 | 14:25Countries will overcome the COVID pandemic in early 2022, but this does not mean that the coronavirus will disappear. This was stated in an interview with the German newspaper Welt by Hans Klugen, World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Director for Europe. According to him, 2021 will become “one more year of COVID”.
“In my work, It is important to plan everything in advance. For this reason, I think the pandemic will fall behind in early 2022, but this doesn’t mean that the virus will disappear,” he said.
According to the specialist, it is necessary to be patient when it comes to the vaccination of the citizens because in the beginning there is always more demand than supply.
“The entire population of the planet should not be vaccinated at once,” said the WHO representative.
As Kluge added, the “political reality” speaks in favor of vaccination passports, but he personally has doubts in this matter. “Besides, the vaccination passport deepens inequality,” concluded Kluge.
