The Ministry of Health has proposed amendments to the law “On Medical Assistance and Services to the Population” to legalize the procedure of autopsy for deaths linked to COVID-19. The bill, posted on a united platform for draft legal acts, indicates low risks of virus transmission from dead bodies to living organisms, recommending the use of individual protective equipment and observance sanitary according to epidemiological rules as real safeguards against the infection.

Since the national outbreak of the pandemic in early 2019, fatalities linked to COVID-19 (at times coupled with pre-existing diseases) have been reported without any autopsy.
