Not only Ankara has expressed readiness to host a meeting of the “3+3” platform, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a weekly briefing today.

“This shows that the interest of all participants in the format to continue the joint work and establish practical cooperation is quite high. And the coordination of the place of the next meeting and the implementation of content saturation take place in the foreign ministries—based on the consensus of all participants. We assume that it is important to focus first on the issues that are of common interest. These include the development of trade and economic relations, transport, cultural and humanitarian ties, the fight against common challenges and threats. And all these directions work to strengthen trust, stability in the region,” Zakharova added.

“As for the controversy over Georgia’s participation, as you know, at the first meeting of the platform on December 10, all countries, including Russia, unanimously expressed their interest in Tbilisi’s participation in this measure, agreeing that the door is always open for Georgia,” Zakharova said.

The “3 + 3” regional consulting platform, as planned, should include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Turkey and Iran.
