Armenian community rally in Brussels to demand release of Armenian POWs
The Armenian community staged a protest at the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels yesterday, demanding that European institutions, first and foremost the European Council and the European Commission, impose sanctions on Azerbaijan and that Azerbaijan release the captives immediately, according to the Facebook page of Free Armenian POWs Global Network.
On May 20, 2021, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the immediate, unconditional release of all Armenian prisoners of war and civilians captured during or after the conflict. The Armenian community, however, notes that this resolution is not respected by the Azerbaijani authorities, as Armenian civilians and soldiers continue to be abducted, captured, tortured, killed by Azerbaijani forces in Armenia, and in Artsakh.
Therefore, we demand that the European Union finally punish Azerbaijan, so that it has to respect the decisions of the ECHR, to respect the fundamental values that Europe asserts and upholds,” said the representatives of the Armenian community participating in the action.
