The United States is determined to implement the agreements reached between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping to prevent a conflict between the two countries, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in Jakarta during his visit to Indonesia, swissinfo reported.

“President Biden told President Xi that we share a deep responsibility to ensure that competition between our countries does not escalate into a conflict. Diplomacy will continue to be our first aid tool in fulfilling that responsibility, ensuring that the potential for conflict in the region is minimized,” Blinken said.

He also said that the United States is working with partners and allies to “keep the region open and accessible to all.”

“We are committed to ensuring freedom in the South China Sea; we have an unwavering commitment to stability and peace in the Taiwan Strait,” Blinken said.

As an example, he presented the trilateral partnership with Australia and Great Britain. “It is a shining example that will advance our strategic interests, support international order based on rules, and promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” Blinken said.
